JAMmed studio is proud to present Diane Boudreau, a local Yellowknife artist.
On Thursday evening from 6pm-9pm we will be having an opening for Diane's beautiful work at our JAMmed Studio location, 3806 Bretzlaff Drive (Next to the gallery of the Midnight Sun). Come down and meet the artist and see her work.
The show will continue for another two days during JAMmed studio's regular hours: 12pm-5pm Friday and Saturday.
Diane Boudreau has been an artist à Yellowknife since 2000. She was born in Valleyfield, Québec and has a background in environmental design and biology.
“I worked in architecture for 15 years then I quit to create my own job as an artist.
Every year I go to 2-3 communities (I have gone to 22 communities now) with a grant from NWT Arts Council to give workshops. In the communities I teach how to paint fish, birds and berries.
I have been doing murals in Yellowknife of giant berries and birds on the sides of buildings. For my next project I will be painting local insects.
In the summer I have an outdoor shop where I cut out and paint on plywood. When I do art I am always thinking about the environment and use recycled materials.”
“Diane is an incredible artist who is always experimenting and expanding her horizons. She uses bright colours and powerful patterns in her work.”
-Jessica A. McVicker, artist
“She combines her scientific knowledge of the natural world with her artistic abilities. She has made a substantial contribution to communities throughout the north during a sixteen-year-period and her work continues to evolve.”
