"Light of Sound"
A Photography exhibit by Casey Koyczan
Casey Koyczan has been taking photographs since the age of 7 years old, as it was his first artistic medium. Throughout childhood and teenage years he has experimented with different cameras and film to feed the interest of image results through numerous possibilities of technology and processing. When the transition of digital photography took place, he continued to push the boundaries of what these cameras were capable of by implementing the unorthodox methods that he has learned in the past.
For the last 4 years he has photographed the sights and energy of musicians at concerts and intimate performances throughout various locations in Western Canada. As an avid musician, he is able to understand and anticipate when the key moments in a song take place. His photographs are a collection of both documentation photography, that display a straight-forward representation of the musician or band, and experimental photography that captures the musicians through an abstract journey of time, light and movement.
This exhibit displays the passion, dedication, and hard work that these musicians have put forth in order to play the music that they love; they open themselves up and bare their creative souls to a crowd in an effort to intrigue, excite, and fascinate the viewer.
The opening day will be Sept 2nd from 6pm-9pm and the show will run until sept 30th.
